Yemen Coast: US warship was locked in 9-hour battle near Yemen coast

A United States warship that intercepted and shot down 4 cruise missiles and 15 drones drones and missiles near the coast of Yemen lasted 9 hours , CNN reported.

The USS Carney, a destroyer of the Arleigh-Burke class, was traveling south through the Suez Canal on Wednesday when it intercepted these missiles and drones moving north along the Red Sea.

Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon’s press secretary, revealed that the missiles were fired by Houthi forces in Yemen, supported by Iran, and may have been aimed at “targets in Israel.”
Ryder mentioned the interception of three land-attack cruise missiles and several drones, which were accomplished using SM-2 surface-to-air missiles fired from the USS Carney.
On Wednesday, one-way attack drones targeted two different US positions in Iraq, resulting in minor injuries, according to the US Central Command.
Early Friday morning in Iraq, two rockets were aimed at the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center near the airport, which houses US military, diplomatic, and civilian personnel. One rocket was intercepted by a counter-rocket system, while the second struck an empty storage facility, causing no injuries.
The US military has responded to previous attacks by Iranian-backed militias by conducting strikes against them
Ryder said “While I’m not going to forecast any potential response to these attacks, I will say that we will take all necessary actions to defend US and coalition forces against any threat.”
He added ““Any response, should one occur, will come at a time and a manner of our choosing. ” according to CNN.
